In the glass

A pictorial representation of some wines we enjoyed at our leisure over the past few weeks:

  • Stony Brook Heart of the Lees Sauvignon Blanc – a lightly wooded Sauvignon Blanc – pale gold, vanillins, complexity with acid and minerality. Dreamy
  • Andreas Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon Blend – a surprise find from the estate during Wellington Harvest Festival.  Not only a great Shiraz winemaker
  • De Wetshof Brut & The Site Chardonnay – Emile Joubert was kind enough to send me a bottle of each of these wines.  The Brut offered crisp sunshine on a miserable day!  I have always enjoyed their Chardonnay’s but I think I have found it….  This new addition to their range, The Site, literally made from single vineyard, clone and soil-type is incredible
  • Rickety Bridge Paulina’s Reserve 2004 – this bottle was quite dusty from having sat on the wine rack for a few years – in fact purchased on my hubby and my first outing to the winelands together.  Fond memories indeed
  • Kloovenburg Sauvignon Blanc 2011 – Manley Communications sent me this latest release – youthful, fresh, melon, white peach. Pure delight
  • Elgin Ridge Sauvignon Blanc – never having heard of the estate before it was great to taste their wines at the recent Taste, Tweet and Theatre evening hosted at the Baxter.  282 depicting the metres above sea level, catchy
